May 30, 2024Meet Our Board of Directors: Paul Herro
Meet Our Board of Directors series is an invitation for supporters and friends of Aim Higher Foundation to meet the amazingly talented and dedicated individuals who give so much of themselves to the students and families we serve.
Paul Herro joined the Aim Higher Foundation’s Board of Directors in spring of 2021. As he enters his second three-year term, Paul shares, “I’m loving every minute of it.”
Paul brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Board and its Committees and a sincere desire to help the families we serve. Paul is the Chief Operating Officer for Eyesafe. Before his current position, Paul held various leadership roles in general management, corporate development and product marketing for several global organizations within the nano materials, instrumentation, and healthcare IT markets. This leadership experience has been paramount to the impact he has made on the Foundation’s Finance, Development, and Scholarship Committees, as well as the Board itself. Paul and his wife, Kristi, have two adult children, both who have benefitted from Catholic education. Paul himself also experienced the difference of a Catholic education. Through his work with the Aim Higher Foundation, Paul hopes to extend the same benefits he and his children gained to students throughout the Twin Cities.
When asked, Why Aim Higher?” Paul shares, “Today’s kids need all the support they can get. There is so much opportunity in this country and we all have a responsibility to put our children in the best position to succeed as a member of society. And when one looks at the metrics of kids coming out of Catholic school’s vs other schools in the same geographic location, it’s hard not to want to jump in and do all you can to make that Catholic education a reality for them. And the Aim Higher Foundation team is great to be part of; laser focused on their mission, very effective, and all very committed to our scholars and their families.”
From a Board member’s perspective, Paul points out, “The success of the Aim Higher Foundation of course, starts with the metrics. We are growing, serving more scholars every year and doing it at a very efficient cost. But when you hear first-hand, the impact we’ve made to the scholar, how they wouldn’t have gotten into their high school, into their college if it weren’t for the Aim Higher Foundation, it’s then that the mission really hits home.”
Representing the sentiment of the entire Board and Management team in looking to the future, Paul shares, “The Aim Higher Foundation is just getting started. While we are making a real impact today, there are still a significant number of kids in Twin Cities that can benefit from an Aim Higher scholarship. The need definitely exists, and we will continue to grow until we can address the vast majority. All kids deserve the best education possible and Aim Higher will keep working until they have access to it.”
