December 7, 2022Aim Higher Alumnus Shares Gratitude at Night of Light
Ten years ago, the Aim Higher Foundation’s founding members had a vision. They believed that all children, regardless of background, should be able to access the life-transforming benefits of a Catholic education. Harnessing their collective passion, these community leaders resolved to remove financial barriers and open doors to give more students that opportunity.
Over the years, we’ve begun to see the fruits of this vision. Daniel Alimo, one of Aim Higher’s first scholarship recipients, returned for this year’s Night of Light to express his gratitude:
“Ten years ago, you gave me a scholarship that opened a door that my parents, alone, could not have opened. Nativity of Mary instilled in me a quest for excellence at a critical time. Education is powerful, and Catholic education is even more powerful.
It transforms lives.”
In late October, the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) report underscored Catholic education’s 160-year legacy of excellence that Daniel articulated. If Catholic schools were a state, their 1.6 million students would rank #1 in the nation across the four NAEP reading and math tests, #1 for Hispanic achievement on all four tests, and #1 for Black achievement on three of the four tests.
NAEP scores highlight just a few of the many benefits Catholic schools provide that transform lives like Daniel’s. In the post-pandemic world, Catholic schools lead the way in forming the children of today to be the leaders of tomorrow. And yet still, too many children aren’t able to access them because of the cost of tuition.
This is where the Aim Higher Foundation – and YOU – step in. We invite you to make a donation to ensure we can continue opening doors and transforming lives. A gift to support our tuition assistance scholarships ensures even more children can attend a Catholic school. Thank you for considering supporting our mission this year.
