The Aim Higher Foundation is pleased to welcome Tom Margarit CPA, MBA, CGMA to the Foundation’s Finance Committee. Tom has been with the Bloomington, MN-based public accounting firm Boyum Barenscheer for the past 40 years. In his current role as Principal, Tom advises clients on their business, financial, and tax needs. Prior, he served as Managing Partner for 20 years.
“Tom’s deep accounting knowledge, wise counsel, and genuine compassion for the children we serve will be a great gift to the Aim Higher Foundation,” notes Aim Higher Foundation President, Ricky Austin. “We are excited and blessed to welcome Tom to the foundation’s Finance Committee.”
Tom graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and went on to obtain a Masters of Business Administration from St. Cloud State University. Upon completion of his MBA, Tom joined Boyum Barenscheer.
Outside of the office, Tom is an avid baseball and soccer fan and enjoys taking advantage of Minnesota summers, spending his time fishing, golfing, and traveling. Tom and his wife, Tami, are the parents of three children and live in the historical Macalester-Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul.

The Aim Higher Foundation provides student-based, tuition-assistance scholarships so that more children in the twelve-county Twin Cities metro area can experience the life-changing benefits of a Catholic education. Since 2012, the foundation has awarded more than 14,000 scholarships – worth more than $12.8 million – to children to attend Catholic schools serving K-8 students in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
