Three Reasons Catholic Schools Week is More Important Than Ever
January 31, 2024Motivated by Aim Higher Support and Desire to Deepen Faith
February 26, 2024Daniel Alimo, Aim Higher Alumnus, Joins Scholarship Committee
The Aim Higher Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Alimo, an Aim Higher Scholar Alumnus, to the organization’s Scholarship Committee. Daniel began his one-year term as the organization’s first alumni representative on January 1, 2024. He participated in his first Scholarship Committee meeting on January 30.
“This is an exciting milestone for the Aim Higher Foundation,” shares Ricky Austin, President. “We have long thought what an impact it would be to the mission to provide an opportunity to those who have benefited to come back and serve the mission. There is no better candidate to be the first to represent alumni on Aim Higher’s committees than Daniel. As one of the first recipients of an Aim Higher Scholarship just over a decade ago, Daniel, today, is an exceptional example of how offering the life-changing benefits of K-8 Catholic education to young people can make a profound and lasting difference. Our supporters first met Daniel when he shared his heartfelt gratitude at our 2022 Night of Light Celebration.”
In May 2023, Daniel graduated with a Bachelors of Business Association (BBA) in Marketing and Economics from the Zimpleman College of Business of Drake University. He is currently employed with JP Morgan Chase Co as an Associate Business Banker, enjoying this position in which he assists businesses in finding the products and services that will enhance their operations.
“I wouldn’t be where I am without the help of the Aim Higher Foundation,” explains Daniel. “I am grateful for this opportunity to serve those who have provided much assistance to me and my family. It’s an honor to be asked to join the Aim Higher Foundation’s Scholarship Committee. I plan on further helping Aim Higher grow, promoting the organization’s mission, and, in doing so, providing more families a chance to attend Catholic schools within the Twin Cities metropolitan area.”
Daniel brings a strong belief that a family’s financial means should not be a barrier to Catholic education. He acknowledges how much Catholic education has benefitted him and he desires to help provide access to others. “I am extremely excited to be a part of this, because I want kids to able to reach their full potential. I know there are others kids who will benefit greatly from Catholic education, and they will grow into more than they can even imagine right now.”
We are deeply grateful to Daniel for stepping in to this new role, and excited to see the impact that he will make here at Aim Higher and beyond. We couldn’t agree more with Daniel, “The world is a better place when we are serving others, and caring for those around us.”
